Thanks for coming to my website. I mean for it to be a songwriter's shop where I display and market my wares. I'm going to be experimenting with various things until I get it right. Please look around while you're here and check back frequently, as I recently acquired the tools to record at my own place and I plan to keep versions of songs, many of which have never been recorded before, available here. Alsooo...the songs from my two previous records, Stray Dog Talk and Broken Spell will soon be available here as downloads. People who want them in the form of CDs with all the trappings may buy them and have them delivered by post, if they like.
More Dog Talk
On the news front, I've made friends with master multi-instrumentalist Matt Smith, and we're starting a new project (a band) called Shake a Stick that has its first gig at Evangeline Cafe on Jan 21st, 2010. David Carroll is on bass and Ernie Durawa will play drums.
Matt and I have done some recordings that I like that will soon be available here. Also, integral to the experiment (as engineer and guitarist) is Clay Connell from Roadhouse Rags, the very SouthAustin center of musical gravity where most of this new recording has been done. So far the people involved have included Lee Potter and Ernie Durawa, both on drums and Vic Gerard and Matt Smith on bass. These guys have gifted much talent, energy and perspective to me and to this project and I'm very grateful to them.
A funny confluence of things happened that has infected me with the temerity to begin teaching guitar and songwriting classes and workshops. So far as I know, there's no law that could be used to actually prosecute me for this. If you're an interested individual living in the Austin area or a group in another locßale please contact me.
Lately, though I'm not much of a joiner, I've become friends with Lee Duffy of the Austin Songwriters Group and have become a member. Lee has many good ideas about songwriting and about doing the business of being a professional songwriter. I've run into Will Sexton and Will T. Massey at ASG meetings.
In a previous rendition of this site, I made much mention of the, then unfinished Dog of Love by Jo Carol Pierce and produced by Mark Andes (Hot Tuna, Spirit, Jo Jo Gunne, Firefall, Heart..to name a few) and includes songs that were co-writes by Jo Carol and me. Now that CD is completed and has garnered many positive reviews. |
